In Romans 1:20, it says that "His invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they (we) are without excuse."
As we hiked along together, I reflected on the fact that though each of us may have different things that we love to see and explore - the mountains, the beach, the stars, wildlife, etc - I believe God placed a love for adventure, curiosity and a desire to create into all of us.
Walking along, I stared at the wonder of the colored mountain side rising thousands of feet above a rocky stream. Huge pine and aspen trees grow from small seeds and are totally different from one another. A black bear emerged up the hill, foraging amongst the wild berries, then sauntered away along the mountain slope in search of something we will never know.
The same amazing complexity and beauty is found through the electron microscope and the most powerful telescopes, revealing that our God exists, thinks and creates on a level that simply blows our minds... if we let it.
His amazing skill and power is truly humbling to me as I see what He has made. I hope that as I am able to create (whatever that may be) I will remember that this is a bit of the way in which God made me in His image and that I will be humble and thankful for that gift.
I hope you will take time this day to ponder our amazing God. Choose something you appreciate and imagine what it took for God to fashion it - for and in us. Music, nature, color, food, love... Give thanks to Him today because He is so good!
