So how about you? Do you have great vacation memories from your childhood? What made them memorable?
When Kevin was about ten, his family spent six weeks touring the western US. In a small trailer. Pulled by a used van that experienced "problems." More than once. My in-laws are saints. But Kevin really has little to no memory of the cramped quarters or the mechanical delays. He remembers the experience of getting to see so much of God's beauty. It really made an impact on him. So much so that as an adult he had no desire to see Europe. He figured all the splendor and enjoyment we really needed was right here within our reach where no passport was required. Given how much of an influence that trip has been (at least subconsciously) I thought it would be fun to share some of the photos. I want to point out that not a single one of these shots have been enhanced in any way. Who needs Instagram filters when you have 32 year old images captured on film. REAL FILM, PEOPLE! Grand Tetons National Park I'm guessing this is in Texas. Those look like blue bonnets, but I can't be sure. Grand Canyon of Yellowstone (National Park). I'm pretty sure everyone who has ever visited has this same shot. That's Kevin's parents in front of Jenny Lake, Wyoming. 150 pictures and quite a few are just like this. The Grand Tetons My favorite of all. I'm tempted to make wall art out of this one. It could not be more perfect. So how about you? Do you have great vacation memories from your childhood? What made them memorable?

That sounds very cool! I had an experience a few years back when we went in our PT Cruiser to Tennessee/North Carolina. There was a part of the road that we had to drive on called the "Dragon's Tail"... or something like that. ANYWAYS, it twisted and turned so much our speed had to be reduced to about 20 mph. What's even better, there were MOTOR-BIKERS!!! And they were going 30 to 40 mph! We had to pull over multiple times to let them pass. And here's the best part: the "Dragon's Tail" was put on the SIDE OF A CLIFF!!!!!! ABOVE A RIVER!!!!!! Can you believe that?!?!?!?! I still can't believe we made it through. While we drove, we saw so many sights that we just didn't have time to take pictures of them.

I know the road you speak of. I have a few friends who have driven it on motorcycles. If it's as scary as it sounds we surely won't be hauling a big fifth-wheel trailer through those mountains! But I'm sure we'll experience at least one hair-raising drive. Maybe Joel can Skype you in for it.
