ERMERGERD! SNERRRR!!!!
I only made a face because I thought everyone else did too. We are camped for the night at the Bean Pot Campground (I am not making that up) in Crossville, Tennessee. We are on the Pinto Bean loop. My favorite. Anyhoo, don't ask me what we are close to. I have no idea. But we did pass through Knoxville and encountered some real snow. It started out as rain leaving Asheville. Then it was little bits of ice (sleet? freezing rain?) when we gassed up in Newton (don't ask me where that is either) (but people had interesting things to say about it on the bathroom walls at the local BP). Then there seemed to be some large white floaty stuff coming down occasionally (light wintry mix?) and finally the real deal: ERMERGERD! SNERRRR!!!! There was lots of it, too. It was definitely the most I have ever witnessed coming down at once. It piled up all over the windshield and on the nose of the trailer, adding to the effect that Bob seems roughly the size of a small glacier, only with worse gas mileage. Joel shot this cool pic of a little car with a great pattern of snow blown onto the body from the front wheel. No, that's not a painted-on stripe, it's really snow that just stuck on the car that way. Once we got through Knoxville and into a slightly lower elevation it turned back to rain. The slush started flying off the windshield and the Bob T calved bergs off it's nose into the bed of the truck. By the time we reached the Bean Pot it was pretty dry and the sun was out. So I didn't feel too badly about making the kids leave the cozy warmth of the Bob T long enough to get that shot by the Pinto Bean sign. But it's about 10 degrees below brrrr outside and Kevin and I are both fighting head colds so no S'mores for us tonight. We played cards with the kids and are turning in early. It's off to Memphis tomorrow.

Can't believe that Joel is still wearing shorts and a short sleeved t-shirt. What are we going to do with that boy?
