We camped at Flamingo, at the southernmost end on Florida Bay. From here you can walk in any direction and hit water before long. The bay is saltwater while the ponds are fresh or brackish (a mix). Each morning and evening we biked to the same spot on the bay for sunset and sunrise photos and to watch the osprey, eagles, and shore birds of all kinds I have never seen so many pelicans and ibis in one place, and this is a drastic drop in numbers from 100 years ago.
Tomorrow we will share the photos from our kayaking trip on Florida Bay, where no one was rammed by a croc or shark and the mosquitos were mercifully absent.
